Having already made two remix appearances on Eyedyllic Music, US-native Demarkus Lewis lands his first original release on the label this December. Titled About U, the three-track EP includes remixes from South Africa’s Erefaan Pearce and label co-founder Mik Santoro.

Speaking on the release’s formation, Demarkus stated that: “About U was one of those tunes that just organically produced itself! I love that Eyedyllic picked this up and they added two super slick remixes! ”

We’re blessed with a soothing lead number in Demarkus’ original of About U, as clear jazzy influences reside atop a rounded kick-hat backbone. Warm keys blend with subtle violin chords, before Erefaan Pearce’s rework continues in a similar vein, melding a pronounced bassline with velvety pads and echoing vocal tones. A shimmering, minimal-flavoured cut rounds things off, as Mik Santoro’s remix brings us seven minutes of floaty, low-slung groove to end things on a soft and summery note.

SILENT REVOL FEAT ARI CARLINI

DOGMATIK

Miami to Detroit transplant Silent Revolt teams up with vocalist Ari Carlini to make their debut on Eyedyllic Music with Dogmatik. The single also includes two remixes from Basti Grub and Demarkus Lewis.

Speaking on how the release came together, Silent Revolt described how “Dogmatik was inspired by a conversation Ari Carlini and myself had one morning. After hours of deep philosophical discussion, I decided to record some of Ari’s statements and went from there.”

The docile tones of Dogmatik lead proceedings in a gentle fashion, as Silent Revolt’s original sways softly between rounded pads and philosophical vocal samples that state “we’re never gonna know it all”, in to form a perfect summer chiller that provokes deep thought on our current times.

Crosstown Rebels inductee Basti Grub serves up a trippy remix and retains the easygoing nature of the original, adding a bit of psychedlic flavor, with a similarly subtle bassline that swiftly gets complemented by a pronounced kick-hat combo.

Rounding things off is Demarkus Lewis, whose ‘Raw Life’ remix springs to life with its wonderfully brisk tempo and choppy synth pulses, this should be the choice for the house purists.

UNDOING THE FUTURE

New York’s Fireberg makes his debut on Eyedyllic Music with Undoing The Future, a diverse EP, strikingly fitting for the dystopian times we find ourselves in.

When asked about the creative process behind the Undoing The Future EP, Fireberg states that the production process “involved a more solitary journey inward, as well as a deepened relationship with my machines. n sharing my music, I enter into a dialogue with my audience that expresses my belief that by regaining the present moment, and bringing the imaginary future into an embodied Now, we manifest the path towards rightful living.”

The esoteric essence described by the burgeoning artist is felt throughout the EP, which as a whole manages to succeed in its difficult task of juxtaposing stark contrasts between uplifting and ominous moods, weaving a cinematic tapestry of highly introspective music — geared toward an intimate, immersive listening experience.

Aside For The Woke begins proceedings with its haunting vocal invitation to “Kiss your dreams goodbye” intermingled with warm, emotive keys and playful bass notes. FKA Mash’s re-glitch comes next, slowing the tempo and utilizing a subtly moving bassline along with soft, whispering hats. Lone Beholder continues the procession in a gentle fashion, as its heart wrenching vocal line, “And all I loved, I loved alone”, creates a wonderfully light and somber tincture of holistic aural medicine when melded with the song’s contemplative and cleverly formulated musical arrangement. The title cut, Undoing The Future rounds things off in slightly more optimistic fashion, as the track picks up the tempo with punchy kicks and pulsing melodies, providing the most club-ready offering on the EP. As the track’s vocal implies, “The beat goes on”… for all of humanity.

Based out of New York’s thriving Brooklyn district, Dan Berg aka Fireberg is an electronic musician in the truest sense of the term. Frequently using hardware as the basis of his productions, he has already produced several self-released works.

J GABRIEL

LEVITY

New York City native J Gabriel marks a return to Eyedyllic Music as a followup to last year’s largely successful “You Know/What They Say” EP. Following massive releases recently on labels such as Superfreq and Moteur Ville Musique, he comes here offering up the sensational jazz-laden ‘Levity’, featuring two heavy-weight remixes from Perlon favourite Akufen.

No stranger to electronic music’s various facets, J Gabriel is a regular of New York institutions Output and The Brooklyn Mirage. His performances and releases have garnered recognition from some of the scene’s finest, having been remixed by the likes of Vincenzo, Delano Smith, iO Mulen, and many more.

With one of his most impressive deliveries to date, Levity kicks off proceedings here, merging elements of deep house with soft minimal undertones to deliver a righteous lead track. Speaking of the release, J described how hardware was instrumental in the creation process. “I can remember having lots of fun with it in the studio experimenting and triggering an old Roland SH2, which gave a unique result and those chords on top sent through a Space Echo gave a certain combination of playfulness and nostalgia. I’m also so happy to have Akufen on board with his sonic stamp.”

Described as “a godfather of microhouse” by XLR8R, Akufen aka Horror Inc. and The Stowaway has been carving out a signature output since 1999. Akufen’s Second Remix exudes his minimal house magic, retaining the deep tones of the original as whispering hats converge on echoing vocals, whilst the delicate bassline chugs along. Akufen’s First Remix rounds off the release with intricate and emotive piano chords at the focal point, creating a feel-good summer cut.

NO EMOTION

New UK-based HomeHome comes with his debut single, ‘No Emotion’. Eyedyllic music are fast becoming the go to label for deep tech leaning emotive groovers and ‘No emotion’ ticks all the boxes.

HomeHome delivers a warm yet somber affair lifted by intricate percussive elements , lush electronic riffs and a divine vocal which urges you to Deep dive into this cleverly presented track. The producer also backs this up with an instrumental for those dubbed out moments

Vincenzo returns to the label with a stellar remix after his hit remix of J Gabriel last spring. Here Vincenzo delivers a pacy version of the original focusing the beats for the floor whilst still retaining its emotive with a wonderful interplay of dub chords and bass line grooves.

UPALLNIGHT feat. JINADU

SILENT PRAISE

Kicking off an important year for the label. Eyedyllic starts 2020 with the same laser focus that saw a string of well loved records in 2019.

Safely in the hands of the ridiculously talented UpAllNight (John Creamer and Noam Rubinstein), the Ibiza and NYC-based label’s 9th record sees the duo return with Silent Praise, a sometimes haunting piece that’s grounded by a cold beauty, especially in the vocal work by the red-hot Jinadu.

Backing them up we have remixes from 2 incredibly well picked remixers. Kevin Yost’s reworking seems to pull a ton of warmth into the production, adding lovely piano riffs and raising the energy meters a bit. His remixes are more intimate, while losing none of the original beauty.

Anhauser also provides a version that is remarkably different, pushing further down the rolling progressive route and reworking the vocal to create a very different vibe, aimed toward bigger rooms.

EREFAAN PEARCE

LATE NITE CANCERIAN

Erefaan Pearce has been a consistent force in the South African house scene for many years. Being an artist who prefers to tells his life story through his music, it was only natural that he would eventually juxtapose his life experiences and lessons onto the album format.

His debut long player, The Late Nite Cancerian has been a labor of love; one which the Ibiza/NYC-based Eyedyllic Music imprint is proud to help bring to the world in all its grooving glory.

An earlier iteration of the album was self-released on CD by Erefaan back in 2017, but an extremely limited number of physical copies were produced, and distribution was limited only to a select number of Erefaan’s friends and fans. Upon receiving the early version of the LP from Erefaan, Eyedyllic Music (which was just forming as a label at the time) instantly fell in love with it as a body of work, quickly approached him about the potential of releasing it to a wider global audience, and made the album their first official signing as a label.

The final product took nearly two more years to complete, spanning 11 tracks, at a duration of 1-hour and Eleven minutes, The Late Nite Cancerian, as a whole, is overflowing with both classic and contemporary house styles; as each track invokes a litany of emotions, portraying intimate stories inspired by Erefaan’s unique path in life.

‘Musically, the album is a diary of my personal experiences, personal and intimate, with each title and song referencing a particular event in my life’ says the Cape Town native.

With incredibly catchy hooks and lyrics, songs such as ‘Ripples’ (featuring Anthony Oseyemi on vocals) and ‘Reasons’ featuring Mox, display an anthemic quality while still remaining tight in their respective grooves, making them just as effective for the dancefloor as they can be for radio or casual listening.

The infamous Johannesburg-based slam poet, Lazarusman, features on ‘Lovely’, while Erefaan himself lends his voice in The Late Nite Cancerian, the final self-titled chapter featured on the long player. Meanwhile, lovely instrumental house and disco vibes keep the album’s web woven tightly between the aforementioned vocal cuts.

When discussing the intimate nature of this piece of work, Erefaan laments, ‘this album tells a story, a personal one.’

It’s a story that transcends the identities he has taken on during his many years in music, beginning as Pascal Pearce, then evolving into Erefaan Pearce, and finally it portrays the metamorphosis into his latest musical adventure, as The Late Nite Cancerian.

LOVELY/REASONS

The second release taken from Erefaan Pearce’s upcoming album on Eyedyllic Music is a double single, featuring two more of the album’s tracks. ‘Lovely’ is a collaboration with The Lazarusman on spoken-word duties, while ‘Reasons’ features the vocals of Mox, with David Marston on the remix – and he does not disappoint with his uniquely melodic reworking of Erefaans contemplative original.

The original cuts showcase more of the artistry forthcoming on his album. Tight rhythm and vocal work combined with a classic House aesthetic. Jackin and Soulful in equal measure.

Reasons is a dreamy walk through deep memory, a immersive experience on the dancefloor. Lush synth work, keys and strings are balanced carefully in the mix as the song progresses, on the back of a catchy vocal. Whilst Lovely is more straight up jackin House, a solid beat and atmosphere set the tone, slightly stripped back but only enough to show its intent, while The Lazarusman does what he’s known best for doing, waxing poetic over a tight house groove.

RIPPLES

Coming next on Ibiza & NYC-based Eyedyllic Music, is a special single from Cape Town, South African producer, Erefaan Pearce. Ripples is the first single from his forthcoming full-length album, The Late Nite Cancerian. With this song, the artist attempts to capture the subtleties of the deep connections we make with people.

He laments, that ‘this record is about Love – the sublime connection between two people.’ Written alongside vocalist Anthony Oseyemi, the song explores the nuance, idealism and feelings of those first sparks between people.

Veteran U.S. house producer Demarkus Lewis steps up for remix duties, his version explores more complex tones and sounds palette to the original, and is geared straight for the club atmosphere. Rhythmically tight and texturally complex, where the original vocal mix is harmonic and light.

Rounding out the record, Erefaan’s own Cape Flats mix takes an alternate direction from the album’s Vocal Mix, veering on a dark, almost progressive tip — its truly different to the others on the record — but keeps keeps the strong emotional integrity of the original record, front and center. After all, love is a complex emotion, different for everyone, and it comes in a variety of flavors — much like this record.

AFTER THE STORM

REMIXES

Eyedyllic Music is heating up for summer with this fresh set of hot remixes! Last year we released James Teej and Keira’s summery sonnet, After The Storm. We felt the song, with it’s uplifting melodic content and emotive vocals, had great potential for some fresh perspectives, so we drafted a few heavy-hitters for remix duties, asking the venerable superstar remixer, Mollono.Bass, as well as the red-hot New York-based duo, Wild Dark, for their interpretations. The results were nothing short of breathtaking!

First up is the incredibly powerful and imaginative reworking crafted by Wild Dark (fresh off of mega releases on labels such as Do Not Sit On The Furniture and Akbal Music), in collaboration with a mysteriously incognito character, known simply as ariaano. From bar-1 this remix captures the senses, with its lengthy DJ-friendly intro, the guys did a fair amount of audio-surgery to the original vocals and musical elements, twisting and morphing them into what turned out to be a dark, energy-rich tornado for the dancefloor. Road-tested and dancefloor approved, this one brings the clubby vibes for techno-centric DJs and dancefloors, alike.

On the flip, we have a far more light-handed and light-hearted approach from the ever-impressive maestro, known as Mollono.Bass. The head honcho for 3000grad Records has been marveling the world with his signature bass-heavy melodic sound for many years, and his ear for precision can easily be heard on his pair of remixes. Mollono pays homage to the original, while carefully rearranging things in a way that harnesses the strongest elements.

DAVE MARSTON & NO REGULAR PLAY

TOO LATE TO CRY

Eyedyllic Music’s sixth release is a family affair, many years in the making. With ‘Too Late To Cry’, the label has once again put together an unlikely group of incredibly talented artists, to form a special release. ‘Too Late To Cry’ was originally produced and released by the multi-talented Jamaica export, David Marston. The original song was one of his earliest commercial outings and first appeared on a compilation via Eyedyllic co-founder Kev Obrien’s former label, Stranjjur, way back in 2012.

Upon meeting in person years later, long after Marston had achieved worldwide success via labels such as Soul Clap and Wolf+Lamb, it was agreed that the song deserved a more proper showcasing, as well as some fresh revisions.

First, we reached out to one of our favorite groups, No Regular Play, who gladly accepted to collaborate with David on a new revision of the song. Using David’s original musical parts as their basis, the fellas crafted a massive new version of ‘Too Late To Cry’, adding an ever-evolving acidic bass line, as well as a hair-raising freestyle trumpet riff, played by Greg Paulus. The collaborative ‘2019 mix’ is one that stands out as an incredibly unique slice of house music.

We then handed the parts from both versions to the talented up-and-coming Brooklyn-based producer, J Gabriel, who returns to the label after his successful You Know/What They Say EP, to remix the remix! J turned in a lovely dub version, utilizing and reigning in the strongest music elements from both Marston and No Regular Play, while adding his signature dubbed-down, funky vibes.

Finally, for the original version of ‘Too Late To Cry’, David Marston went back in the studio and churned out an entirely revised mixdown of the original, making this new ‘original mix’ sound more incredible than ever. The garage and funk vibe on this tune is one that stands the test of time, and Eyedyllic is elated to bring it to the world in it’s most proper form!

WAY BACK

Eyedyllic Music’s fifth release comes from the rising New York-based duo, UpAllNight. Formed by John Creamer and Noam Rubinstein, UpAllNight generates excitement by combining contemporary house stylings with the unmistakable production aesthetic that made Creamer a household name in the house music world, thanks to many hit singles and legendary collaborative remixes of seminal acts such as Moby, iiO, and Satoshi Tomie (to name but a few).

With ‘Way Back’, the duo have crafted something special that hits the heart of the dancefloor instantly. The track’s low-slung, bass-heavy vibe pairs methodically-placed chords and leads with an irresistible vocal — conjuring up what Eyedyllic Music considers ‘true dancefloor magic’.

‘Way Back’ then receives an incredible remix treatment by the young Argentinian duo, Who Else & Anhauser. The pair keeps the aesthetic of the original intact — but dials up the energy meter — with a monster remix that has already been championed and played worldwide by legendary selector Hernan Cattaeo.

YOU KNOW / WHAT THEY SAY

Eyedyllic Music is starting it’s 2019 release plan off with a serious bang; presenting a uniquely talented Brooklyn-based artist, releasing his debut EP under the moniker, J Gabriel.

The You Know/What They Say EP boasts two incredible J Gabriel originals, and also features stunning remixes from deep house legends, Vincenzo and Nick Holder.

With the lead title cut, You Know, J Gabriel masterfully implements his minimalistic approach toward house music, painting an introspective and imaginative picture that inspires and moves. The magic is in the details, and on this one it’s all about the catchy bass-line and well-programmed chords, which create an inspirational vibe when paired with carefully selected spoken-word samples, embedded in classic deep house roots.

On the remix tip, Vincenzo steps up first; making use of You Know’s strongest elements, by utilizing the original bass-line and creating what he himself calls an ‘immersive’ vibe. Deep, driving, melodic and perfectly arranged for maximum dancefloor effect, is this wonderful remix from Vincenzo.

Toronto-based house connoisseur Nick Holder then delves deep into his repertoire on his remix, turning in a lovely rendition of You Know; reminiscent of NYC-style underground house music, by donning the cap of his well-revered Trackheadz moniker.

The EP comes to a close with a perfect B-side, in What They Say. The vibes are thick, as J Gabriel shows his love of dubby atmospheric dancefloor cuts with this one, which should be well-suited for more underground and discerning DJs and dancefloors.

AFTER THE STORM

For the third release on Ibiza and NYC based Eyedyllic Music, the label has conjured up a wonderfully global ‘meeting of the minds’ between the Grammy-nominated Canadian producer, James Teej, and the up-and-coming Milan-based artist, Keira.

With After the Storm, Teej has reached into his songwriting repertoire and sang some heartfelt and sonically pleasing vocals, atop some marvelously melancholy melodies, written by Keira. Together, the unlikely creative pairing of artists have woven together a wonderful tapestry of emotion, which tells a tale of end-of-summer romance, while packing it all nicely into a wonderful electronic soundscape.

Straddling the line between electronica and pop, After the Storm is a unique perspective into what the Eyedyllic aural landscape looks like. It’s all about passion, organic and heartfelt instrumentation, and for labelheads Mik Santoro and Kev Obrien, it’s about weaving together musical moments between artists and creating through the art of A&R, which is often overlooked in the dance music industry.

INCL. REMIXES BY: DEATH ON THE BALCONY AND BAEZ

Eyedyllic Music’s second release veers into the melodic and hypnotic realm, as the NYC/Ibiza-based imprint proudly presents the highly captivating ‘7 Bells’ – the new single from the New York-based live electronic jam-band and production team, MAKr, remixed by fellow-Bespoke Musik Kollektive compatriots, Death on The Balcony and Baez, respectively.

MAKr’s original mix of 7 Bells is a warm, emotive affair, with a distinct cinematic vibe. The groove is driven by a deep brooding sub-bass, catchy chime melodies and guitar strums. With new live percussion elements knocking about in tight rhythmic unison with the sparsely placed melodic elements, 7 Bells is largely a percussive workout; one which packs a lot of emotion and feeling into a track that, as a whole, remains steady and restrained in its nature, for the duration.

Death on The Balcony (All Day I Dream / Anjunadeep) provides a mesmerizing remix, which invokes visions of bodies swaying and gliding on a rooftop, in the orange glow of a summer sunset. The unmistakeable vibe created by MAKr’s melancholic melodic hook remains at the center of it all, just when the addition of an enchanting spoken vocal appears, whispering sweet somethings; inviting love and light into our hearts.

For his remix, Baez lends his delicate and loving touch, showing why he is an artist to keep a careful eye on in the near future. With it’s driving bass-line steadily building, the tension slowly builds during his remix, culminating with a beautiful melodic crescendo; creating a blissful atmosphere of warm and inviting vibes.

KEV OBRIEN FEAT. IAN WHITELAW

SO FAR AWAY

With its first release, Eyedyllic Music lays some cement which reveals some of the label’s core blueprint elements. The label has been formed by co-partners Mik Santoro and Kev Obrien, with an aim toward releasing what they consider to be “beautiful, authentic and unpretentious electronic music”, with no genre barriers.
Obrien himself steps up to kick things off in suitable fashion with “So Far Away’. His first single since 2011, Obrien produced it in collaboration with the revered Scottish vocalist, Ian Whitelaw (notably known for his many collaborations with deep house legend, Phonique)
So Far Away indubitably lives up to the aforementioned Eyedyllic esthetique. The track’s moody, key-laden groove lays a perfect foundation for an extraordinary vocal and lyrical performance from Ian Whitelaw, who sings a heartfelt song about his own experience; one which coincidentally matched up with a very similar experience Obrien had been going through when he approached Whitelaw about doing a collaboration, last winter.
On remix duties, the multi-talented Tone of Arc turns in a rendition that defies all genre boundaries and stands in a world of its own. It’s pounding kick makes way to luscious strings, and the mix eventually leads to a funkadelic climax of epic proportions.
